Solar System(updated picture coming soon!)
We attached the panels on the front half of the bus using unistrut. The unistrut was secured to the two channels that run the length of the bus & the panels were attatched to that using unistrut hardware. For extra support, we used gate hinges on the sides of the panels.
In addition to the panels on the front, we added two panels to the back half of the bus. Since we also wanted a rooftop deck, we had to compromise & put them on the deck but we added struts so we can easily stand them up & out of the way.
One mistake we made with our solar was not planning far enough ahead. We jumped the gun and added 2 skylights to the front & rear of the bus in addition to the already existing emergency exit in the middle. The skylight that we added to the front ended up getting covered with a solar panel because at the end of the day, solar power takes priority. While we still have 2 useable skylights, this problem could have been easily avoided had we planned ahead. So we urge you to learn from our mistakes & not let your excitement get the best of you when working on your conversion.
